Skin Tones: Pink, Yellow, Olive or Brown
Determine Your Skin Tone
When choosing the right makeup it helps to know what skin tone you have. Some of us are fair skinned, some are mid-tones and some are dusky.
Cosmetics designed for Caucasian skin tones have mostly pink tones and some have yellow tones, so for people with darker skin we need to stay away from these as they result in orange or chalky mask like finish, working against the natural tone.
Simple way to figure out skin tone - what happens to your skin when exposed to the sun for an hour? It it tans, freckles or stays the same your complextion is warm and is either yellow, olive or dark tone. If you have fair skin that turns pink in the sun your skin is a pink cool tone.
Quick tip: Another way to figure out if you have a warm or a cool skin tone is to look at the veins in your arm. If they look blue, chances are you are a cool; if they have more of a greenish tint, you're probably a warm.
